Presentation
 El Chico is considered as the most classic rock climbing zone in Mexico. Rock climbing was born in here. Long time ago the community from the city of Pachuca started climbing the rocks in the zone. Right now El Chico has hundreds of routes, most of them equipped by the first climbers. It has very little sport climbs. It is considered as an adventure and traditional climbing zone.
El Parque Nacional el Chico turned national park in 1898. It has over 2,700 ha filled with pine trees.
It is located in the occidental side of the Sierra de Pachuca. The altitude goes from 2,300m to 3,000 in the town of Mineral del Chico.
Within the bounderies of the park there are hundreds of rocks, the most famous of them “Las Ventanas” represent the maximum altitude of the park.
Some famous formations: El Valle de las Cargadas, El Zorro, La Muela, El Valle de las Brujas, Valle del León Alado, Circo del Cestón, Grupo de las Monjitas, Macizo de la Catedral, Macizo del Muñeco.

Getting There
By car: It is necessary to drive to Pacuca city. Take the highway No. 130 México-Pachuca. Once in the city drive the highway to Mineral del Chico. |

Using public transportation: Busses drive to Pachuca every hour, they depart from the north buss station in Mexico city. Once in Pachuca it is necessary to take a cab to El Chico National Park. |
History
 Mineral del Chico used to be called Real de Minas de Atotonilco. It is located 20 km from the city of Pachuca.
The foundation of the town is attributed to the mining properties of the zone. The richness of its mines that were filled with gold and silver were the target of the mining companies.
The stories say that a black servant was the first one to discover silver in the zone. His master founded the first hacienda in 1569. |
Lodging
Primitive camping is recommended, a maintenance fee will be charged. All kinds of hotels are found in Pachuca city. |
